This barn is the perfect folly as a guest cottage for a family with grown children on Cape Cod. Clad with cedar shingle siding and a metal roof, the barn sits on the tidy landscaped property of the main home. As designed, it very well could have had a life as a real working barn before being renovated to fit its new purpose. Large sliding barn doors are there to further convince visitors.
The structure is new, of course, and inside you will find great assortments of fixtures and objects working in tandem as art and utility. Reused and “found” materials were crafted to appear distressed or even pristine, and they are incorporated throughout the structure. Scott Collum, of Abacus Construction, answered the call to build this beautiful piece of art. This cottage should provide both quiet respite as well as lively engagements for years to come!
